PPC Riebeek Bergmaraton 2018

NEWS ALERT
Entries now open for the 33rd edition of the PPC Riebeek Bergmarathon
PPC Riebeek Bergmarathon enthusiasts, recreational ‘athletes’ and runners wishing to
qualify for the Two Oceans Marathon can now secure their place and register online for the
33rd edition of the race. Set in the majestic Riebeek Valley in the Western Cape, the race is
scheduled to take place on Saturday, 4 August 2018.
Starting and finishing at the PPC Plant in Riebeek-West, the race offers four participation
options. Serious runners can tackle the 42.2km marathon while experienced and novice
runners who may be preparing for their first full marathon can opt for the 21km half
marathon. For those who want to enjoy the scenic Riebeek Valley at a more relaxed pace,
there is a 10km run/walk or a 5km fun run/walk. The event route follows a stunning and
iconic course around Riebeek.
The challenge is on for the participants to beat previous records and have their names
registered amongst best performers in the annual race’s history books.
The PPC Riebeek Bergmarathon continues to attract athletes from far and wide, both
serious and social runners who have taken up running as a hobby. Walkers are also
accommodated in this family orientated event. Loyal fans of the race are encouraged to drag
their friends along to join in the fun of walking or running and maybe this could be a start of a
long-lasting relationship with athletics. For some this is a very good excuse for a weekend
away with family to join in the festivities and jovial atmosphere of Riebeek Valley and the
race event.
Whether your goal is to adopt a more active lifestyle, to finish under a certain time or to
participate in a charitable cause, proper training is essential to cross the finish line.
“We are delighted that at PPC we have been able to contribute towards bringing families
together with our title sponsorship of the event. Not only that, but many participants have
also been able to fulfil their dreams of becoming marathon runners in the 33 years that we
have supported the event. We look forward to welcoming more participants this year when
the race kicks off at our plant in August,” says Bernard Venter, General Manager at PPC
Riebeek.
The race has become a hit with the local community and it is a landmark event in their
calendar. The event also offers all those who attend a wonderful opportunity to experience
true Swartland hospitality.
